Brie Blakeman

Art has always been the driving nature of her life and since childhood she created images through observation of the world around her. As she grew older she became a cellist where she first discovered her deep passion for music, rhythm and lyrical vibrations. For 10 years her passion for the cello would thrive until she found a new connection with music through live music and dance. The summer of 2006 she found herself in the center of a circle, where the ultimate flow and movement of the hoop would begin to unwind and reveal to her the energy of movement and dance.

After that summer she left Colorado to study painting at The Kansas City Art Institute where she currently studies painting, color theory and movement. She strives to fuse the elements of painting, sculpture, costuming, make up and movement into one theatrical performance where she uses the art of hoop dance to tell stories through the expression of movement, body language and form.

She currently teaches Hoop Dance fusion classes at Bella Performing Arts Studio, and Sunshine Yoga where she teaches her students the significance of the circle within their dance. Breeze also does fire dance, Circle Art, Yoga Hoop Fusion, Improv, and living statue performance. She believes that the hoop and art over all is a direct representation of our inner selves and can be used to escape the distractions of everyday life and connect with our true selves through a balanced state of inner harmony and isolation.

Breeze is also now currently performing with a very talented group out of Kansas City called Quixotic.
